These were my entries for a Little White Lies competition. The designs are based on the film Black Swan. I used fabric, feathers, free hand embroidery, applique, watercolour, pencil, ink, pen and Photoshop to create the designs. They were arranged using InDesign.
My Process
Washing Line
I created the original sketches using promarkers and fineliner pens. Then I replicated the design using felt for the background and kitsch fabric for the clothing. I wanted the fencing and the grass to be more structured so machined with a foot for those sections and then the remainder of the design was free hand embroidered. I also wanted to capture the feeling of a fineliner pen which is why I have used black thread for the free hand embroidery.
